Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. in Richmond, VA is seeking an Environmental Field Technician to join our ECR team. You will perform observations and testing during earthwork and construction activities for commercial, institutional, landfill, and industrial projects, including soil and concrete testing.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to read construction plans.
• Ability to become proficient in the use of the firm's field-testing equipment, including nuclear gauges and other testing equipment.
• Ability to prepare accurate daily field reports and meet required completion deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible work style with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making capabilities.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• ACI certification or VDOT Soils and Aggregate Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observation and testing of soil, concrete, and other construction materials.
• Communicate with contractors and project managers regarding project status and requirements.
• Assist with laboratory testing programs under the oversight of a Professional Engineer to evaluate soil properties.
• Complete daily site visit reports.
• Other duties as assigned.
