Job summary

ECS Group of Companies, based in Charlottesville, VA, seeks a Construction Materials Testing Senior Field Technician I to perform field observations, testing, sampling and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete and related materials. This role requires strong communication and the ability to work with project managers and contractors in the field.

As experience grows, ECS supports ongoing training and certification opportunities (ACI, ASNT, ICC, NICET, NRCA, and more).

Qualifications

• Field Technician must perform observations, testing, sampling and inspection of construction materials.
• Strong communication with contractors, technicians and project managers.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, asphalt, structural steel, and related materials
• Executes testing activities on projects of moderate complexity with minimal supervision
• Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers
• Reports changing site conditions and additional testing needs to supervisors
• Prepares accurate and detailed daily field reports documenting site conditions and results
• Performs calculations, data reduction, and documentation tasks
• Maintains and organizes field equipment and testing materials
• Assists in resolving field-related issues and supports project execution
• Trains and mentors Technician I and Technician II staff in field procedures and documentation
• Participates in project meetings with senior staff as requested
• Performs other field and project support duties as assigned
