Job summary

Atlas is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Minnesota field team. You will collect environmental data, perform field sampling, and support project teams with an emphasis on safety, accuracy and quality.

This role offers meaningful work that helps communities flourish and aligns with Atlas’s purpose-driven approach. You’ll work both in the field and in the office, coordinating tasks, maintaining records and equipment, and communicating with project managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field and related coursework.
• Ability to follow written procedures and safety plans.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for data entry and documentation.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to travel for fieldwork within Minnesota and Wisconsin.
• Ability to learn standard environmental field methods with on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with and, after training, independently conduct fieldwork including Asset Tagging, equipment inventories, chemical inventories, groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, vapor sampling, and drilling oversight.
• Collect, label, and document samples in accordance with project procedures and regulatory guidance.
• Maintain complete and accurate field notes, logs, photographs, and chain-of-custody documentation.
• Perform data entry, organize field data, and assist with preparing tables, figures, and basic report components.
• Follow site-specific health and safety plans and participate in job hazard analyses.
• Communicate site conditions, schedule updates, and field observations to project managers and senior staff.
• Prepare and maintain field equipment, coolers, and sampling supplies; assist with sample shipping and logistics.
• Support project managers with coordination tasks and day-to-day project needs.
