Field Scientist: Environmental Phase I/II ESAs

Job summary

Atlas, a trusted environmental and infrastructure consultant, seeks a Staff Scientist for its Charlotte, NC team. You’ll conduct Phase I ESAs and support Phase II, perform field investigations, and collaborate with project managers to understand land use and protect public health.

Thriving in a hands-on role, you’ll grow technical skills, travel within NC/SC, and contribute to Atlas National Programs while delivering safe, compliant environmental solutions.

Qualifications

• BS in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
• 2–5 years of site assessment experience and ESA reporting preferred.
• OSHA 40‑Hour HAZWOPER or willingness to obtain.
• Strong written/verbal communication and field-reporting ability.
• Willingness to travel within NC/SC and be based in Charlotte.

Responsibilities

• Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and documentation.
• Phase II ESAs including field sampling and monitoring wells.
• Conduct field investigations, site reconnaissance, sampling, and interviews.
• Interpret data, build summary tables and maps, and report findings.
• Prepare technical reports using online platforms and ensure regulatory compliance.
