Job summary

Atlas is seeking an Environmental Scientist to collect environmental data, perform field sampling, and support project teams with a focus on safety, accuracy, and quality. This role offers meaningful work within a dynamic, client- and community-focused environment.

You will work on field and office tasks, travel within Minnesota and Wisconsin, and grow toward independently conducting groundwater monitoring and drilling oversight events with training provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, earth science, biology, chemistry, or a closely related field.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures and safety protocols.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for basic data entry and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with and, after training, independently conduct fieldwork including asset tagging, equipment inventories, chemical inventories, groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, vapor sampling, and drilling oversight.
• Collect, label, and document samples in accordance with project procedures and regulatory guidance.
• Maintain complete and accurate field notes, logs, photographs, and chain-of-custody documentation.
• Perform data entry, organize field data, and assist with preparing tables, figures, and basic report components.
• Follow site-specific health and safety plans and participate in job hazard analyses.
• Communicate site conditions, schedule updates, and field observations to project managers and senior staff.
• Prepare and maintain field equipment, coolers, and sampling supplies; assist with sample shipping and logistics.
• Support project managers with coordination tasks and day-to-day project needs.
