Job summary

Clean Harbors in Omaha, NE is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist (CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste in accordance with Federal/State/Local regulations and our company policies and procedures. This is an entry level, customer-facing role working at client sites daily and not laboratory-based.

The position supports lab packs, HHW collections, and lab moves, with opportunities for growth into management after training and time in the role.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's license required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
• Must perform physical functions per job requirements.
• Successful background check, drug test, and physical as applicable.
• Compliance with OSHA respiratory protection standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority and follow safe work practices.
• Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests, and disposal notifications.
• Inspect staging, storage areas and drums for leaks and proper housekeeping.
• Collect, segregate, and package waste chemicals for disposal.
• Perform shipments at customer locations and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Coordinate with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company policies for project preparation and approvals.
• Understand disposal restrictions and packaging requirements for each customer.
• Support lab moves and HHW collections as part of Clean Harbors services.
