Job summary

ERM, the global sustainability consultancy, is seeking a Consulting Director, Environmental FERC, to lead regulatory permitting and strategy for large gas, LNG, hydrogen, and renewables projects in the United States.

Based remotely, you will guide cross‑disciplinary teams, engage with FERC and other agencies, and develop client relationships while expanding ERM’s leadership in energy infrastructure development.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of environmental impact assessment and natural resources permitting experience on FERC-regulated projects.
• Experience managing the permitting of large natural gas and LNG projects, including oversight of complex FERC applications.
• Working knowledge of NEPA, CWA 404, Rivers and Harbors Act, NHPA, Endangered Species Act.
• Experience with federal, state, and local permitting.
• Strong written and oral communication, and ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Manage large and complex projects, single-site or multi-site, on time and within budget.
• Lead interdisciplinary teams supporting environmental impact assessments and regulatory permitting activities.
• Develop technical proposals, identify new project opportunities, and support business development.
• Maintain and strengthen client relationships to support repeat business and long-term partnerships.
• Engage with regulatory agencies including FERC and other federal/state agencies.
