Job summary

ERM seeks a Consulting Director, Environmental FERC to lead environmental permitting and regulatory strategy for major natural gas transmission, LNG, hydrogen, renewables, and carbon sequestration projects across the United States. You will guide interdisciplinary teams, engage with regulators, and deliver solutions that align business goals with environmental stewardship.

Based anywhere in the United States, this role combines technical leadership with client engagement and growth

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Studies, Planning, Geography, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field.
• 8+ years of environmental impact assessment and permitting on FERC-regulated projects.
• Experience managing permitting of large natural gas and LNG projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEPA, CWA 404, Rivers and Harbors Act, NHPA, Endangered Species Act.
• Excellent interpersonal and client-management communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage large and complex projects on time and within budget, including scope, budgeting, resourcing, and safety considerations.
• Serve as primary client contact and lead interdisciplinary teams on permitting activities.
• Oversee baseline studies, siting and routing studies, land use planning, and environmental compliance during construction and operations.
• Develop technical proposals, identify new opportunities, and support business development.
• Maintain and strengthen client relationships to support repeat business and partnerships.
