Job summary

Department of Environmental Quality seeks an Engineer II (NS) to perform skilled professional engineering work in the Post Construction State Stormwater program, reviewing plans and permits and assisting with enforcement.

The role supports multiple DEMLR programs, conducts site inspections, and communicates findings through technical reports and presentations. A PE license may be required; hybrid work options are available. Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering plus 3 years of progressively responsible experience.
• Excellent technical writing and public speaking skills.
• Strong understanding of hydrology, soils, vegetation, hydraulics, and stormwater concepts.

Responsibilities

• Review permit applications, drawings, specifications, and calculations for compliance in a timely manner.
• Perform inspections of sites/facilities across DEMLR programs: Stormwater, Sedimentation Control, Dam Safety, Mining.
• Provide engineering guidance and clear, written documentation to staff, clients, and the public.
