The City of Norfolk is seeking a Construction Inspector II for the Department of Public Works, Division of Environmental Storm Water Management. The role focuses on field inspections of stormwater projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specs, and environmental regulations, and documenting progress and deficiencies.

The position requires coordinating with contractors and engineers, evaluating materials, and producing inspection reports while supporting project schedules and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Two years experience in inspection or related field.
• Virginia DEQ Storm Water Inspector certification must be obtained within 1 year of employment.
• Virginia DEQ Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector certification within 1 year of employment.
• Special Police Commission must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain thorough digital inspection records and reports.
• Review construction documents and ensure field implementation matches plans.
• Evaluate materials and workmanship to meet standards and requirements.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and staff to resolve field issues.
• Enforce regulations and prepare notices of violation when needed.
• Assist with project meetings, progress updates, and closeout activities.
