Job summary

The role requires 2 years of experience, completion of DEQ certifications within 1 year, and strong documentation, communication, and enforcement abilities.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in stormwater/construction inspection or related field.
• DEQ Storm Water Inspector certification within 1 year of employment.
• DEQ Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector certification within 1 year of employment.
• Miss Utility On-Call rotation participation is expected.

Responsibilities

• Maintain thorough digital documentation of all inspections using city inspection/asset-management software.
• Review construction documents to ensure accurate field implementation.
• Evaluate materials and workmanship on-site and document deficiencies.
• Participate in pre-construction meetings to align expectations and safety considerations.
• Ensure compliance with Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control Act, Virginia Storm Water Management Law, OSHA, and traffic-control standards.
• Perform enforcement duties, including notices of violation and court representation when needed.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and regulatory staff to resolve field issues and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare progress updates and maintain logs for multiple active projects.
• Provide technical support in interpreting plans and advising on corrective methods.
• Respond to citizen inquiries and document findings and next steps.
