Job summary

Ash Grove Cement is seeking an Environmental Engineer to administer the plant environmental program in line with federal and state laws. The role involves coordinating with regulators, maintaining permits, and leading environmental audits and reporting across the facility.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or related field and at least three years’ experience in the cement or mining sector, with strong knowledge of environmental regulations and community

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.
• At least 3 years of environmental experience in cement/mining or related industries.
• Ability to read, write and understand warning labels and instructions.
• Ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local environmental laws.
• Knowledge of environmental programs in cement manufacturing.
• Ability to promote a positive environmental image in the community.
• Willingness to refer to Environmental/Plant Manager for policy interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
• Participates in environmental projects and liaises with regulatory agencies and inspectors.
• Ensures compliance with all environmental permits and laws.
• Assists regulatory agencies by providing information and assistance.
• Administers and assists in preparing environmental reports, renewals, and surveys.
• Performs audits of data acquisition systems and makes changes.
• Coordinates compliance with ISO 14001 certification.
• Contracts training consultants and purchases training media cost-effectively.
• Coordinates training with Environmental Manager and Corporate Environmental Manager.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
