Job summary

Ash Grove Cement Company is seeking a Process Engineer to manage the cement manufacturing process, analyze operations, and propose improvements. This role emphasizes safety adherence and close collaboration with plant teams across the production line.

The position requires a 4-year degree in mechanical/chemical engineering and at least 2 years of related experience, plus strong analytical skills and PLC knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering (or closely related field).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a mechanical/chemical engineering role.
• Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to perform, organize and prioritize work independently.
• Proficient in English written, verbal communication, and listening skills.
• Knowledge of pyro processing, thermodynamics, heat transfer, air flow and related principles.
• Knowledge of PLC systems and instrumentation techniques and guidelines.
• Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly.
• Ability to work from general policies and objectives.
• Ability to refer to supervisor when clarification or interpretation of organizational policy is in question.

Responsibilities

• Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
• Analyze cement production process and implement changes for optimal efficiency (fuel/electrical).
• Train control room operators on proper use of plant equipment.
• Collaborate with shift teams to maintain peak mill and pyro line performance.
• Program plant control systems and maintain documentation and improvements.
• Perform performance testing and measurements on production equipment.
• Provide technical support to maximize production of quality cement efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Drive continual improvement through data gathering, testing and analysis.
• Accept additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
