Job summary

The City of Pleasanton is seeking a Program Specialist in Environmental Services to support programs protecting the community, waterways, and the environment. You’ll join a small, mission-driven team that balances field inspections with office documentation to ensure compliance.

This role involves conducting weekly hazardous waste inspections, tracking disposal, maintaining records in regulatory systems, and supporting updates to the Hazardous Materials Business Plan and related permits.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance monitoring.
• Experience with technical recordkeeping and regulatory reporting.
• Experience with field inspections and data tracking.

Responsibilities

• Conduct weekly inspections of hazardous waste areas to ensure compliance.
• Monitor disposal of hazardous waste generated at City facilities.
• Maintain hazardous waste documentation and regulatory records.
• Conduct monthly Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure inspections.
• Coordinate Underground Storage Tank compliance activities and follow-up.
• Update compliance information in systems and spreadsheets.
