Job summary

BHE Renewables is seeking an Environmental Coordinator to analyze, develop, and recommend projects ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws. The role collaborates with facility personnel to align with the company environmental policy and leads environmental efforts with outside consultants.

The position emphasizes regulatory strategy, permits, and environmental documentation, with a focus on California-specific regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental sciences or the physical sciences.
• Minimum of three years of environmental work with at least two years in air, water or waste/land use.
• Advanced knowledge of environmental policy, laws and regulations with ability to analyze proposals.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Proven ability to supervise and work with others in a diverse environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to liaise with government agencies, trade groups and industries.
• Computer skills including spreadsheets, word processors, and presentation tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintains understanding of facility processes and improves processes with environmental focus.
• Ensures compliance with environmental policies and regulations; supports reporting and record-keeping.
• Leads complex environmental work with independence and guides consultants.
• Reviews and updates environmental documents and manuals as needed.
• Develops comments on proposed laws/regulations and advises management.
• Assists in obtaining permits and represents the company in regulatory discussions.
• Maintains knowledge of California environmental regulations; provides technical leadership.
• Provides input for project planning and supports environmental staff.
