Job summary

The role serves as a key resource between field operations and environmental leadership, helping ensure compliance with permits, regulations, and company standards.

It involves independent field work, site inspections, and collaboration with project teams, contractors, and regulators.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in environmental compliance or related fields.
  • Experience conducting field inspections, site assessments, and audits.
  • Familiarity with environmental permits and regulatory documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient with Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of environmental compliance programs across projects.
  • Assist teams in meeting permit and regulatory obligations.
  • Conduct inspections and site assessments to verify permit compliance.
  • Monitor conditions, collect field data, and maintain documentation.
  • Assist with reporting, permit tracking, and regulatory submittals.
  • Participate in audits, agency inspections, and reviews.
  • Identify compliance concerns and help develop corrective actions.
  • Support training for new hires and contractors.
  • Coordinate with managers, contractors, consultants, and agencies.
  • Maintain records and use MS Office/SharePoint.
  • Support monitoring, mitigation, and field activities as needed.

Job description

Pinnacle Recruitment Services is seeking an Environmental Compliance Coordinator to support environmental compliance programs for a growing renewable energy organization with projects throughout California.

This role serves as a key resource between field operations and environmental leadership, helping ensure compliance with environmental permits, regulations, and company standards. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in the field, interacting with project teams and contractors, conducting environmental inspections, and supporting compliance initiatives across multiple sites.

This is a temp-to-hire opportunity with strong long-term growth potential.

Location
  • Southern California (Kern County, San Bernardino County, or surrounding areas preferred)
  • Candidates must reside within reasonable driving distance of project sites
  • Hybrid position consisting of remote work and field-based activities
  • Approximately 30-40% travel, including occasional overnight stays
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation and administration of environmental compliance programs across construction and operational projects.
  • Assist project teams in meeting environmental permit requirements and regulatory obligations.
  • Conduct environmental compliance inspections and site assessments to verify compliance with permits, mitigation measures, and company policies.
  • Monitor environmental conditions, collect field data, and maintain accurate compliance documentation.
  • Assist with environmental reporting, permit tracking, and regulatory submittals.
  • Participate in environmental audits, agency inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Identify potential compliance concerns and assist in developing corrective actions.
  • Support environmental training initiatives, including new hire and contractor orientations.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies on environmental compliance matters.
  • Maintain compliance records and tracking systems utilizing Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
  • Support environmental monitoring, mitigation, and field compliance activities as needed.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in environmental compliance, environmental consulting, environmental field services, environmental permitting, or related experience.
  • Experience conducting field inspections, site assessments, audits, or environmental monitoring activities.
  • Familiarity with environmental permits, regulatory requirements, and compliance documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
  • Valid California driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting renewable energy, utility, infrastructure, construction, industrial, or environmental consulting projects.
  • Familiarity with agencies and programs such as AQMD, CalEPA, CUPA, DTSC, SWRCB, CDFW, or USFWS.
  • Experience with environmental inspections, permitting, environmental monitoring, mitigation compliance, or regulatory reporting.
  • Experience utilizing SharePoint or similar document management systems.
  • Environmental certifications such as QSP, HAZWOPER, CHMM, or related credentials.

They will be comfortable working directly with project teams, contractors, consultants, and regulators while helping ensure environmental compliance obligations are met across multiple project sites.
