Placements24 is seeking an Environmental Compliance Chemical Engineer for a role in Welkom, Free State. The position focuses on ensuring operations meet environmental regulations, monitoring impact, and managing permits and reporting.

The role supports sustainable practices with a hybrid work model allowing site visits and remote analysis. The ideal candidate will have a background in chemical/environmental engineering, EMS development experience, and strong knowledge of relevant regulations,

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably in an industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations relevant to mining and chemical industries.
• Experience in developing and implementing Environmental Management Systems (EMS).

Responsabilidades

• Monitor and assess environmental impact of plant operations across air emissions, water discharge and waste management.
• Develop and implement EMS and environmental management plans.
• Ensure compliance with national and local environmental laws, regulations and permits.
• Prepare and submit environmental reports to regulators and internal stakeholders.
• Conduct environmental audits to identify non-compliance risks and recommend actions.
• Deliver environmental awareness training for employees.
• Investigate incidents and drive corrective actions.
• Collaborate with operations to integrate environmental considerations into design and modifications.
