Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy with a hybrid work model at an office near Paarl, Western Cape, ZA. The role centers on soil and rock mechanics, site investigations, and the design of foundations and earth structures for mining and civil projects.

You will collaborate with structural and mining engineers, prepare detailed reports, and contribute to ground improvement strategies, while developing within a supportive, growth-oriented

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering is required.
• Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of geotechnical experience, including exposure to mining projects.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (Plaxis, GeoStudio, Rocscience or similar).
• Strong understanding of soil and rock mechanics and site investigation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical site investigations, including planning, execution, and interpretation of field and laboratory tests.
• Perform detailed analyses for slope stability, bearing capacity, settlement, and seepage.
• Design foundations, retaining walls, and geotechnical structures for mining and civil projects.
• Develop recommendations for ground improvement and excavation support systems.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, specifications, and design documents.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and provide technical support during construction.
