Job summary

Placements24 seeks a proactive Mine Planning Engineer to join our client’s operations team on a hybrid basis, combining on-site assessments with remote strategic planning in George. You will develop short- and long-term mine plans, optimize layouts and schedules, and ensure regulatory compliance to support safe, efficient mining.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mining Engineering and at least 5 years of planning experience, with proficiency in Deswik, Vulcan, or Surpac.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and operations.
Proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan, or Surpac.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and update short-term and long-term mine plans using specialized software.
Optimize mine layouts, production schedules, and resource extraction methods for improved efficiency and safety.
Conduct site visits for data collection, operational reviews, and progress monitoring, complementing remote planning efforts.
Analyze geological data and survey information to inform planning decisions and manage ore reserves effectively.
Collaborate with mine operations, geology, and surveying teams to ensure seamless integration of plans into daily activities.
Monitor mining performance against plans and identify areas for improvement, proposing solutions to operational challenges.
