Job summary

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking an Environmental Specialist I in Tallahassee to support the Water Compliance Enforcement Program. The role focuses on accurate daily wastewater incident data reporting, including such events as plant upsets and SSOs, to meet EPA/SDWA commitments.

Responsibilities include QA of spill data, data entry into Oracle/WAFR, handling public records requests, and assisting the EzDMR Coordinator with data interpretation and process

Qualifications

• 4+ years of verifiable related experience; degrees may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
• Background in wastewater and stormwater data reporting is preferred.
• Ability to learn data management systems and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• QA spill data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Use Incident Tracker, Outlook, and OCULUS to collect data.
• Enter data into DEP’s Oracle database, WAFR, and share with staff.
• Handle public records requests related to spills.
• Assist EzDMR Coordinator with data gathering, analysis, and customer service.
• Support EzDMR and WAFR queries and Access objects.
• Suggest process improvements and adjust workflows as needed.
• Help with data entry of drinking water and wastewater monitoring reports.
