This position is located in Tallahassee, FL
This full-time Career Service entry level position supports the Water Compliance Enforcement Program (WCEP) within the Division of Water Resource Management. The Environmental Specialist I plays a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of compliance data from wastewater and stormwater facilities throughout Florida. This position is responsible for wastewater incident data that must be updated daily. Wastewater incidents, which include plant upsets, bypasses, sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) and other wastewater spills can pose a threat to the environment and public health. To minimize the impact of a wastewater incident, an owner or operator must provide immediate notification and appropriate response. Additionally, this position assists the EzDMR Administrator and helps the Department in meeting our commitments made to the EPA under the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act.
This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.
