Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc., a leading Southeast General Contractor, is seeking a Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater in Lake Wales, FL. This entry-level role supports project teams across construction phases, focusing on coordination, documentation, and field operations.

You will work with Project Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget, while gaining hands-on experience in construction management processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or another relevant field.
• 0–3 years of construction-related experience (internships or co-op ok).
• Basic understanding of construction processes and project management.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update project documentation (RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, meeting minutes).
• Support scheduling efforts and milestone tracking.
• Coordinate distribution of documents to subcontractors and vendors.
• Assist with procurement activities and field operations.
• Support project closeout documentation and turnover activities.
• Participate in coordination meetings and document outcomes.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress.
