Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater to join our Jacksonville, FL team.

This entry-level role supports project teams with coordination, documentation, scheduling, and field operations to ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget project delivery. You will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to gain hands-on experience in construction management processes, project controls, and field operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or another relevant field.
• 0–3 years of construction-related experience preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Familiarity with construction management software and scheduling tools preferred.
• Willingness to obtain relevant training/certifications (OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, etc).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update project documentation (RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, minutes, logs).
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, and contract documents tracking.
• Support scheduling efforts and milestone tracking.
• Coordinate distribution of project documents to subs, vendors, and field staff.
• Assist with procurement activities and vendor communications.
• Support project closeout documentation (OM manuals, warranties, as-builts).
• Participate in coordination meetings and document outcomes.
• Conduct routine site visits to monitor progress.
• Assist with startup, commissioning, testing, and owner turnover activities.
• Support safety and quality control procedures.
