Wharton-Smith, Inc. seeks an experienced Project Manager with a Water/Wastewater background for the Tampa, FL office.

The role oversees project performance from estimating through completion, focusing on safety, owner satisfaction, cost, schedule, and quality control. Responsibilities include building client relationships, managing budgets and schedules, coordinating with preconstruction, and ensuring contract compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant degree.
• Must have relevant water/wastewater construction experience.
• Experience in managing self-perform crews is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Developing leader and team player with five plus years of experience in engineering, construction, or related field.
• Proven success in the completion of multimillion-dollar projects.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with client/owner, architect, and engineer to encourage renewal of Wharton-Smith’s services.
• Maintain a positive image with clients, vendors, subcontractors and team members.
• Partner with Preconstruction Services on value engineering, bidding, estimating, and proposals.
• Set up and maintain project cost accounting and schedules.
• Develop and maintain the project schedule and monitor progress.
• Support permitting, testing and inspection requirements of the project.
• Negotiate subcontractor agreements and equipment/material purchase orders.
• Develop a Schedule of Values and generate monthly payment applications.
• Review and approve subcontractor pay applications and vendor invoices.
• Monitor submittals, shop drawings, and purchase orders for timely delivery.
