Job summary

American States Utility Services, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Treatment Plant Operator I to support water treatment operations at military installations.

This role involves performing routine plant rounds, monitoring equipment, updating logs, and assisting with chemical handling under supervision. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and OSHA safety training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
• Must take and pass OSHA/safety training with annual refreshers.
• Must possess water and/or wastewater treatment licenses or obtain within 24 months.
• Ability to stand, lift heavy loads, and work in varied conditions.
• Basic math and chemistry knowledge applied to water treatment.
• Knowledge of safety practices for handling chemicals and operations.
• Fluent reading/writing/speaking English.
• 1 year as a Distribution/Collections Operator or 2 years in water utility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine plant rounds, monitors gauges, and documents processes.
• Operates and adjusts pumps and equipment to maintain plant operations.
• Maintains and updates operation logs and performs calculations.
• Mixes and handles treatment chemicals and related equipment.
• Inspects, troubleshoots, and maintains plant machinery and systems.
• Collects water samples and conducts routine lab tests in coordination with the lab.
