American States Water Company’s subsidiary American States Utility Services is seeking an entry-level Treatment Plant Operator I to support Massachusetts facilities. You will perform routine rounds, monitor gauges, mix chemicals, and maintain logs to ensure compliant plant operation.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and safety training. Basic math/chemistry knowledge and English communication skills are essential; willingness to work flexible hours

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
• Must take and pass Federal OSHA, US Army Corps of Engineers, and/or State mandated Safety training.
• Water and/or Wastewater Treatment Licenses required or ability to obtain within 24 months.
• Ability to understand basic math and chemistry and apply to water treatment.
• Strong communication skills in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Experience in safety practices for construction and chemical handling.

Responsibilities

• Perform treatment plant rounds; monitor gauges and analyses.
• Operate and adjust pumps, motors, feeders and equipment for proper operation.
• Maintain and update plant logs; perform calculations related to operations.
• Mix and handle treatment chemicals; ensure proper application per regulations.
• Install, service and repair plant equipment; troubleshoot issues.
• Collect and document samples; assist in lab testing and results review.
• Perform general maintenance and grounds duties as required.
• Respond to emergencies; 24/7 on-call availability as needed.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Water/Wastewater Treatment Licenses

Valid Driver's License

Reading, writing and speaking English fluently
