Job summary

American States Utility Services, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Treatment Plant Operator I in Massachusetts to support operation and maintenance of our water treatment facilities. You will perform routine rounds, monitor processes, mix chemicals, collect samples, and assist with equipment maintenance under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and safety training completions. Prior experience with SCADA and lab processes is helpful.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
• Must complete OSHA and related safety trainings.
• Wastewater/water licenses required or obtainable within 24 months.
• Ability to perform basic math and chemistry related to water treatment.
• Must understand safety practices for handling chemicals and equipment.
• Fluent English reading/writing/speaking for communication.
• Experience with SCADA and laboratory processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform plant rounds and monitor operations using gauges, analyzers, and SCADA systems.
• Operate and adjust pumps, motors, and related equipment to maintain plant performance.
• Maintain and update operations logs and perform related calculations.
• Mix and apply treatment chemicals and manage chlorine handling.
• Install, repair, and service plant equipment and perform routine maintenance.
• Collect water samples and conduct lab tests in coordination with the lab.
• Assist in general facility maintenance and grounds work as needed.
• Operate heavy equipment and assist with material handling and deliveries.
• Follow OSHA and ASUS safety standards and be available for emergencies.
