Job summary

American States Utility Services, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Treatment Plant Operator I to support military installations. You will perform routine rounds, monitor gauges, collect samples, and help maintain water and wastewater systems under supervision.

This role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and safety training. You will work with SCADA systems, assist in chemical handling, and participate in 24/7 emergency response while adhering to OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
• Must complete required safety training (OSHA, US Army Corps of Engineers, and/or state) with annual refreshers.
• Must possess Water and/or Wastewater Treatment Licenses or obtain within 24 months.
• Ability to understand basic math and chemistry for water treatment.

Responsibilities

• Performs treatment plant rounds; inspects, monitors, troubleshoots, and documents plant processes.
• Operates pumps, motors, and equipment to maintain plant operations.
• Maintains, compiles and updates plant logs; performs related math calculations.
• Mixes and adds treatment chemicals; handles chlorine safely.
• Tests water quality and collects samples for lab analysis.
• Maintains plant facilities and performs grounds upkeep as needed.
• Operates heavy equipment and supports emergency response as needed.
