Job summary

American Water is seeking an Operator, Wastewater Treatment to support daily plant operations, monitoring, and routine maintenance at our wastewater facility. You will collect data, perform tests, and learn regulatory requirements under supervision.

Responsibilities include operating and maintaining equipment, handling chemicals, and ensuring safe, compliant plant performance. Overtime and rotating shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; college coursework preferred.
• 0-2 years in mechanical, industrial, environmental, or utility work.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine plant operations and maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Assist with monitoring and data collection of wastewater processes.
• Load and unload chemicals following procedures and maintain inventories.
• Inspect equipment and perform minor maintenance and repairs.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and follow PPE and lockout/tagout rules.
