Job summary

IES is seeking a Technician II - Service to perform structured cabling tasks and respond to service calls. You will install outlets, build closets, run testing, identify circuits, and troubleshoot fiber/copper cabling.

The role requires adherence to safety standards, documentation accuracy, and capacity to travel within the branch/region. Requires a High School diploma and at least six years in telecom/related tech fields.

Qualifications

• Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• Must possess a minimum of six (6) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
• Some knowledge of A/V installation and components preferred.
• Must possess and be proficient with the listed tools.
• Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
• Must know the universal communications color codes.
• Must meet Company minimum driving standards.

Responsibilities

• Install work area outlets for floor, modular furniture and wall; terminate CAT3 & CAT5, mount face plates and surface mount boxes.
• Build closets with backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware; install grounding for racks and cable.
• Perform testing: continuity tests, troubleshoot opens/shorts, use volt-ohmmeter on cables.
• Identify active voice or data circuits.
• Troubleshoot fiber and copper cabling to identify and correct issues.
• Complete all IES COMMERCIAL paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, transfers, work orders, etc).
• Adhere to company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
