Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is seeking an EMI engineer to join our Engineering Mechanics and Infrastructure team. You will perform structural analyses under supervision and assist with designing and evaluating structures across diverse projects.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering Mechanics or Structural Engineering, experience with FEA (Abaqus/ANSYS), and programming skills in Python or VBA. Travel and field inspections may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering Mechanics or Structural Engineering with emphasis on structural analysis/dynamics/engineering mechanics
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with technical staff and clients
  • Ability to obtain PE or SE registration within five years

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analyses under supervision
  • Design new structures and repair existing structures
  • Perform linear and nonlinear finite element analyses using Abaqus/ANSYS
  • Support in proposals, calculations, drawings, and client communications
  • Review work and conduct field inspections and in-house lab work
  • Conduct calculations in MATLAB/Mathcad
