Job summary
Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is seeking an engineer with an advanced degree in Structural Engineering or Engineering Mechanics to join the EMI team in Newport Beach. You will apply engineering mechanics, materials science, numerical simulation and state‑of‑the‑art analyses to support projects ranging from power facilities to defense programs, with opportunities for growth and learning.

Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Structural Engineering or Engineering Mechanics (MS/PhD).
- Strong background in structural analysis, dynamics, and engineering mechanics.
- Experience with probabilistic concepts and risk/reliability concepts.
- Familiarity with FE software: ANSYS/ABAQUS/SAP2000/LS-DYNA.
- Willingness to travel and potential security clearance.
- Ability to develop and interpret complex calculations and reports.
Responsibilities
- Plan and perform engineering analyses of structures for extreme events and unconventional requirements.
- Develop finite element models and perform linear and nonlinear analyses.
- Perform seismic soil-structure interaction analyses of building structures.
- Prepare calculations and reports documenting analyses.
- Review work and assist in proposals, budgeting, and client communication.
