Qualifications

• Basic understanding of structural engineering and building design principles.
• Familiarity with gravity and lateral force-resisting structural systems.
• Basic knowledge of structural materials such as steel, concrete, masonry, or wood.
• Familiarity with structural design codes, standards and building codes.
• Basic understanding of construction drawings and engineering documentation.
• Ability to develop and interpret plans, sections, details, and structural models.
• Ability to check own work for accuracy and meet project schedules.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Supports project teams in the development of structural design documentation, plans, models, and reports.
• Assists in the development of structural designs through sketches, models, diagrams, calculations, and other formats.
• Utilizes BIM technologies to develop three-dimensional models of building structural systems.
• Prepares and revises drawings and documentation during project phases, including floor plans and details.
• Performs basic structural calculations under guidance of experienced engineers.
• Assists with coordination of structural designs with architecture and other disciplines.
• Assists in the review of shop drawings and RFIs and prepares responses.
• Assists with site observations and field observation reports as needed.
• Attends project coordination meetings with internal and external teams.
• Supports cost estimating and value engineering activities.
• Applies design standards and building codes under supervision.
• Performs other structural design and project support activities as assigned.
