Job summary

ACT Power Services is seeking a Solar Field Service Technician to oversee safe, productive on-site operations of Commercial and Utility Scale solar plants. You will perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to maximize production, while keeping safety a top priority.

Based in the field, you will support maintenance on solar modules, trackers, inverters, and medium-voltage equipment, with travel across the United States as needed and opportunities for ongoing

Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year of relevant field experience in solar, electrical, or a related technical/mechanical trade; or ACT Apprentice program (equivalent)
• Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) sign-off or ability to obtain within onboarding period
• OSHA 10 General Industry certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
• Ability to read and interpret drawings including fuses, breakers, switches, power sources, BoS equipment
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to take direction and complete tasks
• Valid Driver's License
• Travel around 20% and on-call during off-shift hours and weekends
• FAA Part 107 certification, Technical Writing course, and ACT High Voltage/Medium Voltage training completed or in progress

Responsibilities

• Uphold a high level of safety standards in everything that you do
• Assist in preventive maintenance, service, troubleshooting, and repair of solar facilities, including inverter maintenance and repairs
• Perform string-level troubleshooting, tracker inspections, and basic maintenance support
• Conduct vegetation and site equipment inspections, including monthly inspections
• Apply fundamental knowledge of NEC code, electrical theory, and industry best practices, with continuing education as assigned
• Perform basic electrical testing (IR, continuity, grounding, voltage) under supervision
• Dispatching and remediation on repairs under 50V
• Maintain company property such as vehicles, tools, meters, and plant stock
• Log data into Fiix, TrueContext, Deputy, and ACT SharePoint
• Initiate warranty claims with equipment vendors/OEMs as needed
• Identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove or eliminate hazards
• Conduct pre-job brief analysis
• Actively participate in the Good Catch Program and BBSO observations
• Attend maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical writing training as assigned
