Job summary

ACT Power Services is seeking a Solar Field Service Technician to manage safe, productive on-site operations at Commercial and Utility Scale Solar PV plants. You will support preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to maximize production and learn across inverter systems, trackers, and MV equipment.

The role requires field-based work at customer sites with travel to multiple sites across the United States; on-call and extended hours may be required.

Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year of field experience in solar/electrical or related trade or completion of ACT's Apprentice program
• QEW sign-off, or ability to obtain within onboarding period
• OSHA 10 General Industry certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days
• Ability to read and interpret drawings including fuses, breakers, switches, power sources, and BoS equipment
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office
• Valid Driver's License
• Around 20% travel and on-call during off-shift and weekends
• FAA Part 107 certification, and ACT High Voltage/Medium Voltage training in progress or completed

Responsibilities

• Uphold safety standards in all activities
• Assist in preventive maintenance, service, troubleshooting, and repair of solar facilities
• Perform string-level troubleshooting, tracker inspections, and basic maintenance support
• Conduct routine vegetation and site equipment inspections, including monthly checks
• Clean or replace damaged components as directed
• Apply NEC code knowledge and industry best practices, with ongoing training
• Perform basic electrical testing (IR, continuity, grounding, voltage) under supervision
• Dispatch and remediation of repairs under 50V
• Maintain company assets and inventory (vehicles, tools, meters, stock)
• Log service reports, inspections, safety paperwork, and spare parts in systems
• Conduct and log vehicle inspections; participate in warranty claims with vendors/OEMs
• Identify hazards and take corrective actions; participate in pre-job briefings
• Engage in Good Catch program and safety observations
• Attend maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical writing training as assigned
