Job summary

Mead & Hunt, established in 1900, seeks an Entry-Level Roadway Design Engineer to join our Transportation team across Columbia, MD; Herndon, VA; Washington, DC. You will help develop geometry and modeling using Bentley OpenRoads Designer or AutoCAD Civil 3D, and support plans, estimates, and permit work.

A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field is required; EI or ability to obtain within 12 months is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or relevant field from an accredited college or university.
• EI or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Experience with MS-Word, MS-Excel, and MS Project is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop horizontal and vertical geometry and typical sections.
• Roadway design modeling using Bentley OpenRoads Designer or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Prepare plans, exhibits, cost estimates and specifications.
• Apply standards such as AASHTO Green Book, MUTCD, and Highway Safety Manual.
• Assist in analysis, calculations, reports, studies, permits, and designs.
• Attend client meetings and assist in communications.
• Field observations of roadway conditions and data collection.
