Job summary

Mead & Hunt is seeking an Entry-Level Roadway Design Engineer to join our Transportation team in Columbia, MD; Herndon VA; Washington, DC. A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field is required, with travel expected and a valid driver’s license.

The candidate will contribute to roadway geometry, design modeling, plans, estimates, and specs while applying national standards. Proficiency with MicroStation or AutoCAD is preferred, and EI or ability to obtain within 12 months is

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or relevant field from an accredited college or university.
• Valid driver's license and some travel will be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop horizontal and vertical geometry and typical sections.
• Roadway Design Modeling using Bentley Open Roads Designer or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Prepare plans, exhibits, cost estimates and specifications.
• Identify and apply standards per AASHTO Green Book, MUTCD, HSM, and other local/national standards.
• Assist in analysis, preparation, or modification of reports, calculations, studies, permits, and designs.
• Attend client meetings and assist in client contact and communications.
• Field observations of roadway conditions and data collection.
