Mead & Hunt, Inc. invites applications for an Entry-Level Roadway Design Engineer to support our Transportation team in Columbia, MD (also in Herndon, VA and Washington, DC).

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field and a drive to grow in a collaborative, employee-owned firm. Responsibilities include roadway geometry development, design modeling with Bentley Open Roads/Civil 3D, preparing plans and estimates, and applying standards from AASHTO and the

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Transportation design coursework or internship.
• Proficiency with MicroStation or AutoCAD.
• EI or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Experience using MS Word, Excel, and Project.

Responsibilities

• Develop horizontal and vertical geometry and typical sections.
• Roadway design modeling using Bentley Open Roads Designer or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Prepare plans, exhibits, cost estimates, and specifications.
• Identify and apply standards (AASHTO Green Book, MUTCD, HSM).
• Assist in analysis, reports, calculations, studies, permits, and designs.
• Attend client meetings and assist in client contact and communications.
• Field observations of roadway conditions and data collection.
