Job summary

Mead & Hunt is seeking an Entry-Level Roadway Design Engineer to join our Transportation team across Columbia, MD; Herndon, VA; and Washington, DC. The role focuses on developing geometry, modeling roadway design, and preparing plans and specifications.

The successful candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and may pursue EI licensure within 12 months. Proficiency in MicroStation or AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and MS Project is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
• EI licensure eligibility or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Proficiency with MicroStation or AutoCAD and common MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Project).

Responsibilities

• Develop horizontal and vertical geometry and typical sections
• Roadway Design Modeling using Bentley Open Roads Designer or AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Prepare plans, exhibits, cost estimates and specifications
• Identify and apply standards from AASHTO Green Book, MUTCD, Highway Safety Manual, and local/national guidelines
• Assist in analysis, preparation, or modification of reports, calculations, studies, permits, and designs for projects
• Attend client meetings and assist in client contact and communications
• Field observations of roadway conditions and data collection
