Job summary

DelDOT (Delaware Department of Transportation) is seeking an entry-level Equipment Operator I to support maintenance and operations on state roadways. You will learn department rules and environmental policies while under close supervision.

Responsibilities include operating on/off-road equipment, performing basic repairs, loading materials, and assisting in road maintenance tasks. CDL and valid license are required, with overtime during storms and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Knowledge of operating a variety of equipment used in repair, maintenance, and development of roads, grounds, or structures.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
• Must be able to work overtime, storms, and emergency events on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Drives and controls on/off-road equipment to haul supplies to and from the work site.
• Operates equipment with integrated systems by coding computers or adjusting controls.
• Loads and unloads rock, debris, earth, trees and materials using various lifting tools.
• Performs preventive maintenance and basic repairs on assigned equipment.
