Job summary

The State of Delaware's Maintenance & Operations division seeks an entry-level Equipment Operator I to support road maintenance and snow removal. You will learn department rules and operate on/off-road equipment to haul supplies, perform basic repairs, and follow safety guidelines.

This full-time, on-site role requires a valid CDL Class A or B within 90 days, overtime availability, and readiness for emergency deployments. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Experience operating repair/maintenance equipment for roads and grounds.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to work overtime and in adverse weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Drives and controls on/off-road equipment to haul supplies to and from the work site.
• Operates mobile equipment and hand tools to dig, ditch, slope, and clear areas.
• Loads and unloads rock, debris, earth, and materials using appropriate equipment.
• Performs minor repairs and inspections and reports needed maintenance.
• Responds to environmental/highway emergencies and supports snow removal.
