Job summary

The Municipality of Anchorage's Parks & Recreation department is hiring an entry-level Recreation Specialist to provide leadership and functional supervision to facility and program participants; help greet, register, and admit attendees, and keep the site clean as outlined in the facility operation manual.

The role may require outdoor work in inclement weather and involves completing required certifications, a valid Alaska driver’s license, and passing background checks; telecommuting options

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 months experience leading, directing, supervising, coaching, or teaching in a recreation or childcare setting.
• Must obtain American Red Cross First Aid and CPR within 30 days of hire.
• Valid Alaska Driver’s License with acceptable driving record at time of hire.
• Successful completion of a national background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and supervision to recreation participants and facility users.
• Clean and organize the facility according to the operation manual.
• Greet and register participants and manage entry into the facility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
