Job summary

The Municipality of Anchorage's Parks and Recreation department seeks an Indoor Recreation Specialist II at Fairview Recreation Center. Under supervision, you will lead entry-level facility staff, deliver recreation activities and events, monitor participant behavior, and keep the facility clean.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of program experience, and certifications in First Aid and CPR.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 1 year experience in the program or activity under consideration.
• Prior experience in the use of recreational equipment is required.
• American Red Cross First Aid Certification, and American Red Cross CPR or equivalent at time of hire.
• A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record at time of hire.
• Satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160 and AS 12.62.400) at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, the Indoor Recreation Specialist II leads entry-level facility staff.
• Delivers recreation activities and events, monitors participant behavior and maintain a clean facility.
• This position is distinguished by higher degree of accountability and independent judgment.
