The Municipality of Anchorage seeks a Recreation Programs Lead in the Parks and Recreation Department. You will plan and oversee programs across recreation centers, day camps, ski and sled programs, swimming and golf activities, provide lead direction, and supervise on-site staff and facilities.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, or an associate/bachelor’s in physical education or related field; valid Alaska Driver’s License; ARC First Aid and CPR; and a background check.
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.

Schedule varies Monday-Sunday 7 AM-11 PM.

Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per PandP 40-40.

Perform lead duties and assist with the operation of various recreation programs including, but not limited to: recreation center programs, therapeutic recreation programs, day camp programs, winter ski programs, sled programs, sports recreation programs, camping programs, swimming program, and golf recreation programs. Assists with planning and implementation of various activities. Provides lead direction. Travels between Recreation Program Sites. Oversees and operates various facilities and associated equipment. Assists with recreational center and/or pool / on-site staff, facility, and activity schedules. Administers first aid and CPR as required Collects fees. Maintains attendance records. Ensures the safe operation of facilities and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

All Applicants Must Possess And/or Complete
Valid State of Alaska Driver's License at time of hire.
American Red Cross First Aid Certification (age appropriate) at time of hire.
American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) age appropriate at time of hire.
Background check conducted every five (5) years - (American Camping Association (ACA) requirement)
Employment is conditional based upon satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160 and AS 12.62.400).
