Job summary

The Recreation Specialist, under supervision, provides leadership and functional supervision to recreation facility and program participants; organizes and cleans the facility in accordance with the facility operation manual; greets, registers and admits participants into the facility. This is an entry level position distinguished from the higher classification by its lack of managerial responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• and three (3) months experience leading, directing, supervising, coaching, or teaching children and/or adults at a recreation facility or similar setting.
• American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications within 30 days of hire.
• A valid State of Alaska Driver's License with an acceptable driving record at time of hire.
• Satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise recreation facility operations and program participants; greet, register, and admit participants.
• Ensure facility is organized and cleaned according to the operation manual; may work outdoors in inclement weather.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
