Job summary

Dallas County seeks an entry-level prosecutor to perform routine legal work under supervision. The role involves litigation, legal research, drafting documents, and interpreting laws and regulations within misdemeanor cases.

You will assist with case evaluation, preparation, and management, representing the State in pre-trial and evidentiary hearings, and communicating with defense attorneys, court personnel, victims, and witnesses. Training will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Texas.
• Graduation from an accredited law school.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates cases and prepares for hearings and trials.
• Drafts and files motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Explains legal processes to witnesses and clients, and keeps them informed.
• Gathers and presents evidence for trials or hearings.
• Represents the State in pre-trial and trial settings, including jury selection and opening/closing statements.
• Participates in settlement or plea negotiations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
