Responsibilities

• Evaluates assigned cases by reviewing documentation, conducting necessary legal research, interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence, and determining action.
• Drafts, files and responds to motions, briefs or other legal documents for trials/hearings.
• Explains legal process to witnesses, prepares witnesses for court testimony, and informs clients or victims/families on case status.
• Gathers, prepares and presents evidence for trials or hearings.
• Represents the State in trials/hearings via jury selection, opening statements, direct and cross-examinations, and closing arguments.
• Participates in settlement or plea-bargain negotiations.
• Prepares necessary legal documents if a settlement/plea is reached and ensures filings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
