Responsibilities

• Evaluate cases by reviewing docs, researching applicable laws, interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence and deciding action.
• Draft, file and respond to motions, briefs, or other legal documents for trials or hearings.
• Explain legal processes to witnesses and prepare them for court testimony; keep clients and victims informed.
• Gather and present evidence and exhibits for trials or hearings.
• Represent the State in trials/hearings including jury selection, opening statements, direct and cross examinations, and closing arguments.
• Participate in settlement or plea-bargain negotiations.
• Prepare documents if a settlement or plea agreement is reached and ensure filings and signatures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
