Responsibilities

• Evaluates assigned cases or lawsuits by reviewing documentation, conducting necessary legal research, interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence, and determining actions.
• Drafts, files and responds to motions, briefs or other legal documents for trials and hearings.
• Explains legal process to potential witnesses, prepares witnesses for court testimony, and keeps clients or victims informed on case status.
• Gathers, prepares and presents evidence and related material for trials or hearings.
• Represents the State in trials and hearings by conducting jury selection, opening statements, direct and cross-examinations, and closing arguments.
• Participates in settlement or plea-bargain negotiations.
• Prepares necessary legal documents if settlement or plea-bargain is reached and ensures filings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
