The Wellesley Police Department is seeking an entry-level officer to serve a highly engaged community just outside Boston. Candidates should have a high school diploma (or GED) and an associate degree upon appointment, and be prepared to complete exams, background checks, and fitness tests.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's Degree required upon appointment.
• Must pass oral interviews and background check.
• Must reside within 15 miles of Wellesley, MA within one year of appointment.
• Must pass medical, psychological, and physical fitness exams.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain MA firearms license.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas and conduct investigations.
• Follow up on complaints and testify in court.
• Issue traffic citations and direct traffic as needed.
• Make arrests and engage in community policing and crime prevention.
